Marty--143 pounds today
Six years ago, Pointy Helmet head coach Marty McCrory weighed 250 pounds. He couldn’t jog more than 400 meters before having to stop. He didn’t know how to eat right or how to exercise.
Then, Marty discovered triathlon. Combined with significant changes to his diet, he lost 80 pounds over the course of a single year. This drastic improvement inspired him to begin to invest more time in the sport of triathlon. Over the next few years, Marty lost another 25 pounds through focused training and refining his diet.
Currently, Marty weighs in at 143 pounds, for a total weight loss of 107 pounds! Along with the weight loss, he’s also become a competitive age-group triathlete, with several age group wins and Top 10 overall placings. His hope is that his personal weight loss journey inspires his athletes to improve themselves on a similar level.
Marty is a USA Triathlon Level 1 certified coach, and also holds a USA Cycling Level 3 coaching certification. He has an undergraduate degree in Music Composition, a Masters degree in Informatics and a graduate concentration in Instructional Design. He lives in Gainesvile, Florida with his partner Lana and his cat Majel.
